I am probably the only person in the USA who drives vehicles more than 3 years old, but just in case, I'm going to post this DIY trick I used to polish the headlights on our car and truck.
The headlight lens on our Honda especially had gotten oxidized and opaque looking. So I was ready to try this.
Materials:
Pitcher of water
Toothpaste with whitener
Baking Soda
Old rags for scrubbing and drying
Elbow grease
Wet the lens of the headlight by pouring some water on it. Apply a line of toothpaste from one side of the headlight to the other. Dip one of the rags in the water and use it to spread the toothpaste over the entire headlight. Then dip the dampened rag in baking soda and begin scrubbing the headlight.
Use circular motions as well as back-and-forth motions. Keep the paste damp and continue to dip the rag in the baking soda and scrub vigorously for about 5 minutes. Pour water over the headlight to rinse it and check the result. If you missed some spots, or it's not quite clear enough for you, repeat the steps until you get the result you want. Or go get your husband, tell him your hands aren't strong enough, and trick him into finishing the job. Dry the headlight with a clean rag.
You won't believe the difference in the way it looks and how much better you can see at night!
